I ordered SEVEN cookbooks online (from S'pore). It finally arrived. Looked through the pics and saw this dessert. Thought I'll give it a go. Tapioca was good but the coconut layer? Hmm....mai kong de dio. Kek sim ah.......

I don't know what happened but the jemput fell flat. Became banana pancakes instead. *blushing* This time round, I added grated coconut.

Of all the games played, I believe we all enjoyed Batman and friends the most. It was hilarious, fun and tiring - not only from the "work out" but from laughing. Judgement day for Basement Idol. :-P No, no, no.....not baseball. Old game but still popular Can only happen here. Last also got prize.

Took a brief walk around the village. Too cold ah. No cooking pics to share lah but wanna see pics of ski resort not? Well, we went up north on a mini getaway. Too cold to walk around and then of course boh ski lah. Wa mana dare lah. Kua lang ski de ho. Weather was really good in terms of driving condition. Thank God.

Aka Kueh sarlat. I need to perfect the steaming of the top layer. Still getting bumps. Haiz......

SO has been wanting to eat this tapioca dessert. Today boh cho kang, so I eng eng made this for dessert. Hmm....from my recollection living in Sg, I think it's being eaten with coconut cream. But then again, I thought there was also a hint of gula melaka. Anyways, I made both sauces.

Buy from supermart one lah, not about to try it home made 'cos easily available here and inexpensive too. But my version bah. If lazy to cook, that could jolly well be a meal too. :-P

Alamak.....pai seh.....I realised the cookies looked burnt eh? But ho jiak leh. *blushing* Ka ki kong hor? Modelled after the traditional fruit cake, I used partial of the ingredients for this cookie.

The canto say "kiu mm pa gao, jui gan yu sau". Hee hee....if u no understand, sorry lah. Okay lah, translate lah. It means, oh....hold on to your bladder....it's direct translation ah......"trick not afraid old, most important must accept". Ho lah ho lah....don't make sense lah. My point was I made these in 2004 and will repeat the feat this year. Heh heh~~~~ Oh, can you guess/name the cookies therein? Got prezzies, know? :-P

My maiden effort with doing log cookies. Quite a challenge for me to avoid the log from falling apart. :P

I prefer doing drop cookies, no need to shape them.....hee hee.........

Well, Christmas is round the corner and it's time to do some serious baking. This is chopped cashews topped with quartered cherries.

Eaten with brown sugar and freshly grated coconut. Or, if you wanna go "lite", you can eat it "as is".

My version of zi zar ee mee. Anyhow ga sak bo tak lah.

Not really sure how to do this 'cos haven't had this for a long time. I dip nian gao in light batter and then pan fry. Do you think it look like bak kua aka pork jerky? Hur hur~~~~

Hee hee....don't know the name for it but basically, it's steamed grated cassava rolled in grated coconut. One of my favourites. :-D

A relative gave me this recipe and the molds along with it. My challenge was I couldn't get ovalette here. Anyways, I went ahead without the ovalette and it turned out alright.
