Ubi Something too ;-)

SO has been wanting to eat this tapioca dessert. Today boh cho kang, so I eng eng made this for dessert. Hmm....from my recollection living in Sg, I think it's being eaten with coconut cream. But then again, I thought there was also a hint of gula melaka. Anyways, I made both sauces.

*sobs sobs* Nong time no eat ah. But then even if it went on sale, the body cannot afford it. *blushing* Neyways, I'm going to get some to make durian pudding for an upcoming Christmas party. Heh heh~~~~ Wah raos....even as I upload the picture, looking at the thick creamy flesh, hmm...yum yum!

Alamak.....pai seh.....I realised the cookies looked burnt eh? But ho jiak leh. *blushing* Ka ki kong hor? Modelled after the traditional fruit cake, I used partial of the ingredients for this cookie.

The canto say "kiu mm pa gao, jui gan yu sau". Hee hee....if u no understand, sorry lah. Okay lah, translate lah. It means, oh....hold on to your bladder....it's direct translation ah......"trick not afraid old, most important must accept". Ho lah ho lah....don't make sense lah. My point was I made these in 2004 and will repeat the feat this year. Heh heh~~~~ Oh, can you guess/name the cookies therein? Got prezzies, know? :-P

My maiden effort with doing log cookies. Quite a challenge for me to avoid the log from falling apart. :P

Not really sure how to do this 'cos haven't had this for a long time. I dip nian gao in light batter and then pan fry. Do you think it look like bak kua aka pork jerky? Hur hur~~~~

Ubi Something

Hee hee....don't know the name for it but basically, it's steamed grated cassava rolled in grated coconut. One of my favourites. :-D

A relative gave me this recipe and the molds along with it. My challenge was I couldn't get ovalette here. Anyways, I went ahead without the ovalette and it turned out alright.

I made these. :P I find this better than the "jiu zhen gao" because the gula melaka portion gave a "pang pang" taste. :D

Well, I saw this duo colour kueh on a certain site and thought, "hey, I can do this." I don't know what flour is being used. For me, I used rice and tapioca flour. Green portion is pandan and the brown, gula melaka. Wanna have a "Name the Kueh" Contest? Hee hee..........

Braised dried scallops & chinese mushrooms in oyster sauce with lettuce. I like dishes like this. Actually, I can eat bland food. :P

Fish, anybody?

I got this recipe from the Canadian Living magazine. Marinate fish in salsa sauce and apricot jam, then bake it. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves. Hmm.....yum yum!

A fellow S'porean cooks up a really awesome version. I learnt it from him. Love the sambal but not when cooking it 'cos the house smells. Love this dish with nasi lemak. Hmm.....I hope I get invited to this friend's house again! :P

Hae mee

My version of hae mee.....strictly shrimps 'cos me no like meat! :P But my friends dish up really superb prawns noodle soup that I hid mine in the closet. Hur hur.........
